8 socially-distanced dining destinations to check out

With looser quarantine restrictions in place, it is now possible for Filipinos to dine out and eat at their favorite restaurants. This is great news for everyone, especially for highly social individuals that treat meals as a communal experience with friends and loved ones. 


The Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has announced that curfew hours are now shorter, with everyone advised to stay indoors from midnight to 4 a.m. The task force also shared that persons aged 18 to 65 can leave their homes.


Businesses have welcomed this news and have strengthened their health and safety measures to guarantee that guests can go out with peace of mind.

SM Supermalls transformed their event centers and open-air parks into creative dining spaces. Diners are encouraged to wear face masks and follow the 3-step dining etiquette: order, eat quickly, and clean as you go. Contactless sanitizing station, floor markers, and regular disinfection are also implemented. Moreover, they introduced other innovations such as cash-free payment systems and additional touch-free services.

Filinvest actively promotes safety protocols across all its malls. Festival Mall has encouraged social distancing by designating seats and installing acrylic dividers at the food court. Westgate allows its tenants to implement their own safety measures, such as social distancing, contactless health declaration forms, personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff, and hands-free dispensers for sanitizers. 



3. Megaworld Lifestyle Malls

Megaworld is ensuring that its safety measures are consistent with government regulations. Mallgoers are asked to wear face masks, fill out health checklists,  undergo temperature checks and footwear disinfection, and enter sanitation chambers. Alfresco dining is encouraged to physically distance and enjoy natural ventilation. Employees are subjected to pre-work health screening, daily monitoring, and training on sanitation and disinfection.


4. McDonald’s

McDonald’s has implemented its own guidelines, such as assigning a safety manager in all stores to make sure health and sanitation rules are followed. Customers are offered hand sanitizers every 30 minutes. Through its M Safe program, employees are given a face mask, alcohol, and vitamin C. They also undergo temperature checks before and after their shifts, accomplish a daily health check form, hand wash every 30 minutes, and undergo swab tests. 


5. Jollibee

Customers must go through a 3-step safety check before entering a store. They must step on a disinfection mat, wear a face mask, and undergo a temperature check. Store members are also required to have their temperature checked and wear PPEs. Moreover, they are given vitamin supplements and telemedicine support. Door handles, fixtures, and surfaces are disinfected every 30 minutes, while self-order kiosks are sanitized before and after use. All stores have counter guards for extra protection and hygiene ambassadors to ensure the implementation of safety precautions.


6. Goldilocks


Dine-in services are available in select stores. Goldilocks follows the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force so customers are safe while indulging in their favorite treats.

At some restaurants, customers must undergo temperature checks and use the foot bath before entering. Everyone is advised to strictly distance from each other. Establishments follow increased sanitation and proper hygiene protocols to make sure everyone is safe.

Restaurants take customers’ temperature and ask them to fill out a digital health declaration form before entering. Some malls have set up alfresco dining areas.
